The International Child’Space Training Amsterdam Teachers Team
Dr. Chava Shelhav will give the trainings, as well as Child’Space practitioners Tjitske de Boer and Orly Gat.
Dr Chava Shelhav
has developed Child’Space – The Chava Shelhav Method for Developmental Monitoring. She has studied child development and has worked with children and babies for more than 30 years. She was an early student and assistant of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais and is today widely recognized for her exceptional skills with clients of all ages, and as a gifted trainer of teachers in the Feldenkrais Method®. She holds a master’s degree from Boston University, where she published her thesis, “Working with Brain Damaged Children Using the Feldenkrais Method,” in 1989. Her doctorate, from the University of Heidelberg (D) in the Departments of Sociology and Life Sciences, examined the effects of the Feldenkrais Method on learning processes and other aspects of childhood. Dr. Shelhav has published a number of books that have been translated into English and German.

graduated from Child’Space 5, Israel in 2007, and has been an assistant for the past 5 years for Child’Space Trainings taking place in Israel. Orly has 7 years’ experience of working with parents and babies through the Child’Space method. She has worked with babies at various developmental stages, including those with delays and disabilities. Orly had previously worked as an occupational therapist with adults with mental, physical and cognitive disabilities. In addition to Child’Space, Orly has completed the Feldenkrais practitioners’ training, Bobath and DIR courses.
Sabine Schmid Blackaby
Has been working as a Kindergarten teacher in Switzerland for 10 years before training as a Feldenkrais teacher in Italy. As a Feldenkrais practitioner Sabine continued to work with children off all ages and abilities alongside teaching adults. She completed the 2nd Child’Space training with Chava Shelhav in Amsterdam in 2013 and has been co-assisting in the 3rd and part of the 4th Child’Space training in Amsterdam. Sabine has attended two intensive advanced Child’Space trainings for assistants and trainers with Chava Shelhav in Israel (2016) and Athens (2018) and is committed to her ongoing professional development. She maintains a varied practice working with babies and children.
Tjitske de Boer
has been a Feldenkrais practitioner for many years and started the Feldenkraiscentrum in Utrecht (The Netherlands) 25 years ago. The focus in her work has always been on children and babies. She took several advanced training courses and master classes on movement development of children and babies with specialists like Chava Shelhav, Anat Baniel and Larry Goldfarb. She also took the foundation training of Bodynamic, a course about child psychomotricity and the different developmental stages of the child. Tjitske de Boer participated twice in the Child’Space training in Amsterdam and took teacher’s specials in Israel.
